duffer
Hack on links
A duffer is someone incompetent at a particular activity, especially golf: The course was full of weekend duffers.
The word suggests amateur bumbling rather than serious failure—a duffer isn't dangerous, just not very good.
In British and Australian slang, duffer can also mean a stupid or useless person generally.
