mulligan
Informal retry allowed
A mulligan is a do-over, especially in golf—a second shot granted informally after a poor first attempt, not counted against the score.
The term has spread beyond golf to mean any second chance: Life doesn't give you mulligans.
Mulligans are understood as friendly accommodations, not official rules. (Capitalized Mulligan is a surname.)
