dragstrips
Quarter-mile tracks
Dragstrips are straight, paved tracks designed for drag racing—acceleration contests between vehicles over a short distance, typically a quarter mile.
The word combines drag (racing slang for a race between vehicles) with strip (a narrow stretch of pavement).
Also spelled as two words: drag strips.
