double barrel
Side-by-side firearm
Double barrel describes something with two parallel tubes or chambers, most commonly a shotgun with two barrels side by side or stacked vertically: a double-barrel shotgun.
The term extends to anything that comes in twos or delivers a dual impact: a double-barrel question asks two things at once, and a double-barrel surname combines two family names.
Also spelled double-barreled or double-barrelled.
