single action
Revolver trigger type
Single action describes a firearm mechanism where the trigger performs only one function—releasing the hammer to fire.
The hammer must be manually cocked before each shot, either by pulling it back with the thumb or, in revolvers, by the cycling action of the slide.
This contrasts with double action, where pulling the trigger both cocks and releases the hammer.
Single-action guns typically have lighter, crisper trigger pulls: a single-action revolver, He carried an old single-action Colt.
