dopant
Intentional chip impurity
A dopant is a substance added in small quantities to alter the properties of a material, especially in semiconductor manufacturing.
Adding impurities to pure silicon changes its electrical conductivity, enabling the creation of transistors and integrated circuits.
The process is called doping: The wafer is doped with boron to create a p-type semiconductor.
