dihedrals

Two-plane meeting angles

Dihedrals are angles formed where two planes meet, like the angle between two faces of a crystal or the upward angle of an aircraft's wings relative to its body.

In aviation, wing dihedral provides stability—when the plane tilts, the lower wing generates more lift, automatically correcting the roll.

Climbers use the term for V-shaped rock formations where two cliff faces intersect: She jammed her body into the dihedral and chimneyed up.
