Pixel-stretching closeup method
Digital zoom enlarges an image by cropping and scaling rather than using optical magnification.
Unlike optical zoom, which physically adjusts lens elements to magnify a scene, digital zoom simply stretches existing pixels, resulting in reduced image quality: The photo looked grainy because I used digital zoom instead of moving closer.
