demi-god

Partially divine being

A demi-god is a being with partial divine status—either the offspring of a god and a mortal, like Hercules or Perseus in Greek mythology, or a mortal elevated to godlike status through heroic deeds.

The term extends to anyone commanding extraordinary reverence or influence: In Silicon Valley, certain founders achieve demi-god status.

Also spelled demigod.
