dehusking
Stripping outer layers
Dehusking is the process of removing the husk—the dry outer covering—from grains, seeds, or ears of corn.
The term appears most often in agricultural and food processing contexts, where machines or manual labor strip away the fibrous protective layer to access the edible portion inside.
Dehusking corn by hand takes forever compared to using a mechanical husker.
