deep vein
Interior blood channel
A deep vein is a blood vessel that runs through muscle tissue, as opposed to superficial veins visible near the skin's surface.
The term appears most often in deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a potentially dangerous condition where blood clots form in the deep veins of the legs.
