decemviri
Ten official Romans
Decemviri is the Latin plural of decemvir, meaning a body of ten men.
In Roman history, the decemviri were commissions of ten magistrates appointed for special purposes—most famously the group that codified the Twelve Tables of Roman law around 450 BCE.
The term appears in historical and classical studies: The decemviri held extraordinary powers during their brief tenure.
