debulk

Remove tumor mass

Debulk means to reduce the size or volume of something, most commonly used in medicine for surgically removing as much of a tumor as possible when complete removal isn't feasible: The surgeon debulked the mass before starting chemotherapy.

Outside medicine, debulking removes excess material to make something more manageable or less dense.
