dark ride
Enclosed scenic journey
A dark ride is an amusement park attraction where passengers travel through enclosed spaces with illuminated scenes, theatrical effects, and animated figures.
The "dark" refers to the controlled lighting that hides the building's structure while spotlighting displays—haunted houses, fantasy worlds, or story sequences.
Classic examples include Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean and countless carnival spook houses.
