cross-ply
Angled cord construction
Cross-ply describes a tire construction where the internal fabric cords run diagonally across the tire, with alternating layers angled in opposite directions.
This older design offers a stiffer sidewall and is still used on some trailers and classic vehicles.
Also called bias-ply, it has largely been replaced by radial tires for most automotive applications.
