craniums

Heads' bony shells

Craniums is the plural of cranium, the skull or specifically the part of the skull enclosing the brain.

The word appears in both technical and general contexts: The anthropologist measured craniums from different periods.

In informal use, cranium often substitutes for head: Use your cranium.

The Latinate plural crania also exists, more common in scientific writing.
