parietals
Cranial side plates
Parietals are rules governing visits between the sexes in college dormitories or boarding schools, particularly restrictions on when students of one gender may enter rooms of another: The college relaxed its parietals in the 1970s.
The term comes from the Latin for "wall"—the regulations govern what happens within walls.
Now largely historical, as most institutions have abandoned such restrictions.
