cranial bones
Head's bony shell
Cranial bones are the eight bones that form the skull's protective casing around the brain.
They include the frontal, parietal (two), temporal (two), occipital, sphenoid, and ethmoid bones.
These bones are joined by sutures—immovable joints that fuse during development.
The infant's cranial bones hadn't fully fused yet.
