counting-house
Merchant's accounting room
A counting-house is a building or room where a business keeps its financial records and conducts accounting.
The term is historical, evoking images of clerks on high stools with ledgers: Scrooge sat busy in his counting-house.
Modern equivalents would be an accounting office or finance department.
