Victorian gentleman's garment
A frock-coat is a man's formal coat with a fitted waist and a skirt extending to the knees, worn especially in the 19th century.
It was standard formal daywear for professional and upper-class men, eventually displaced by shorter suit jackets: He arrived in a black frock-coat and top hat.
