councilmen
Local government representatives
Councilmen is the plural of councilman—a member of a council, especially a municipal legislative body like a city or town council.
The term is gendered, and councilmember or councilperson increasingly appears as a neutral alternative: Three councilmen voted against the zoning proposal.
