cot death

Crib mortality syndrome

Cot death is the British term for the sudden unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant during sleep, called SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) in American English.

The cot is the baby's crib: The campaign urged parents to place babies on their backs to reduce cot death.
