common logarithm
Logarithm base ten
A common logarithm is a logarithm with base 10—the power to which 10 must be raised to produce a given number.
The common logarithm of 100 is 2, because 10² = 100.
Often written as "log" without a subscript, especially in engineering and applied sciences, distinguishing it from natural logarithms (base e).
