coconut crab
Giant tropical crustacean
A coconut crab is the world's largest land-dwelling arthropod, found on islands across the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
These crabs can weigh up to nine pounds and span three feet across.
They're named for their ability to climb palm trees and crack open coconuts with their powerful claws, though they eat a variety of foods.
