co-signer

Credit vouching partner

A co-signer is someone who signs a document alongside the primary party, taking on shared responsibility.

Most often, a co-signer guarantees a loan or lease when the primary borrower lacks sufficient credit history or income: My father co-signed my first car loan.

If the borrower defaults, the co-signer becomes liable for the debt.
