clout chaser
Desperate for relevance
A clout chaser is someone who pursues fame, influence, or social media attention through association with popular people or trending topics rather than through genuine achievement.
The term is dismissive, suggesting the person's motivations are shallow and self-serving: He's just a clout chaser trying to get noticed by bigger accounts.
Clout here means social influence or celebrity status.
