Nervous rapid gabbing
Twitter is a light, high-pitched sound made by birds—a series of short, rapid chirps: Sparrows twittered in the hedgerow.
By extension, people twitter when they chatter rapidly about trivial things, often nervously or excitedly: The guests twittered about the scandal.
A twitter is also a state of nervous agitation: She was all in a twitter about the interview. (Capitalized Twitter is the social media platform.)
