Easy-peel citrus fruit

Clementines are small citrus fruits, a variety of mandarin orange with smooth, glossy skin that peels easily and segments that separate cleanly.

They're seedless or nearly so, sweeter and less acidic than regular oranges: The kids went through a whole box of clementines in two days.

Often sold in small wooden crates during winter months.
