chemoprevention

Drug-based cancer prevention

Chemoprevention is the use of drugs, vitamins, or other substances to reduce the risk of developing a disease—most often cancer.

The term appears in medical contexts discussing preventive treatments: Aspirin chemoprevention may reduce colorectal cancer risk.

Unlike treatment, chemoprevention targets people who haven't yet developed the disease.
