chimney starter
Briquette lighting cylinder
A chimney starter is a metal cylinder used to ignite charcoal for grilling without lighter fluid.
You fill it with briquettes, place crumpled newspaper underneath, and light the paper—the chimney shape creates an updraft that gets coals burning evenly in about fifteen minutes.
Once the coals are ashed over, dump them into the grill.
