chamberpot

Bedroom toilet container

A chamberpot is a bowl kept in a bedroom for urinating or defecating, used before indoor plumbing became standard.

The name comes from its use in private chambers rather than outdoor privies.

Now largely obsolete except as antiques or in places without modern facilities: The museum displayed Victorian chamberpots alongside washbasins.
