cathood

Being a feline

Cathood is the state or condition of being a cat, parallel to how childhood describes being a child or adulthood describes being an adult.

The term appears most often in whimsical or affectionate contexts when people attribute personality or life stages to their pets: She's really come into her cathood now that she rules the whole house.

It can also refer to the collective nature or essential qualities of cats as a species.
