siamese
Sleek pointed cat
Siamese refers to things joined together, especially a Y-shaped pipe fitting that connects two hoses to one outlet: The firefighters hooked up to the siamese on the building's exterior.
The word comes from the famous conjoined twins Chang and Eng Bunker, born in Siam in 1811, though "siamese twins" as a phrase is now considered dated in favor of "conjoined twins." (Capitalized Siamese refers to the cat breed or to Thailand.)
