Portable brass clock
A carriage clock is a small, portable clock with a rectangular case, typically brass with glass panels on all sides, and a handle on top.
Originally designed for travelers in the 18th and 19th centuries, these clocks were sturdy enough to withstand the jolts of horse-drawn carriages.
Today they serve as decorative timepieces: a carriage clock on the mantelpiece.
