dysrhythmia
Abnormal cardiac rhythm
Dysrhythmia is an abnormal rhythm, especially of the heart.
The term is largely interchangeable with arrhythmia in medical contexts, though dysrhythmia technically means "bad rhythm" while arrhythmia means "no rhythm." Doctors use both for irregular heartbeats: The ECG showed a cardiac dysrhythmia.
The term also appears in speech pathology for disrupted speaking rhythms.
