canker sores

Painful oral lesions

Canker sores are small, painful ulcers that form inside the mouth—on the tongue, gums, or inner cheeks.

Unlike cold sores, they aren't contagious and appear inside rather than outside the mouth.

They typically heal on their own within a week or two: I bit my cheek and now I have a canker sore.
