Camera tracking is a visual effects technique that analyzes footage to extract the camera's movement through space—its position, rotation, and lens characteristics.
This allows computer-generated elements to be inserted into live-action scenes with matching perspective and motion: The explosion was added in post using camera tracking.
Also called match moving or motion tracking.
