calk

Seal the seams

Calk is a variant spelling of caulk, meaning to seal seams against leakage: calk the hull of a boat.

Calk also refers to a pointed projection on a horseshoe or boot that provides traction on ice or slippery surfaces, or as a verb, to fit with such projections: calk the horse's shoes for winter.
