butcher boy
Young shop assistant
A butcher boy is a young man who works in or delivers for a butcher shop.
The term also names a style of women's sleepwear—a short, loose-fitting top paired with matching shorts or bloomers, resembling the smocks worn by butcher's apprentices.
In Irish and American folk music, "The Butcher Boy" is a traditional ballad about betrayed love.
