breaker panel
Electrical distribution box
A breaker panel is the metal box where a building's main electrical supply divides into individual circuits, each protected by a circuit breaker.
When a circuit overloads, its breaker trips, cutting power to prevent fire or damage.
The breaker panel is in the basement.
Also called a breaker box, electrical panel, or fuse box (though modern panels use breakers, not fuses).
