brake calipers
Disc-squeezing stoppers
Brake calipers are the components in a disc brake system that squeeze the brake pads against the rotor to slow or stop the wheel.
When you press the brake pedal, hydraulic pressure forces pistons inside the caliper to clamp the pads onto the spinning disc.
The mechanic said my brake calipers were sticking and needed to be replaced.
