clutch plates
Transmission engagement components
Clutch plates are the friction discs in a clutch assembly that engage and disengage to transfer power from an engine to a transmission.
When pressed together, they lock the drivetrain to the engine; when separated, they allow the engine to spin freely.
Manual transmission vehicles use clutch plates operated by a foot pedal, while motorcycles and automatic transmissions use similar plates in different configurations.
The clutch plates were worn and needed replacing.
