bourne
Stream or limit
A bourne is a small stream or brook, especially one that flows only seasonally or intermittently.
The word survives mainly in British place names and literary contexts.
In older poetic usage, bourne also meant a boundary or limit, particularly the boundary of life—death as the final destination: the undiscovered country from whose bourne no traveler returns.
