border regions
Lands between nations
Border regions are areas along the boundaries between countries, states, or other jurisdictions.
These zones often develop distinct characteristics—mixed cultures, special economic rules, or heightened security presence—shaped by their position between two territories: The border regions of Texas and Mexico share cuisine, language, and family ties.
The term also applies figuratively to transitional zones between any domains: the border regions between science and philosophy.
