body surf
Ride waves prone
Body surfing is riding ocean waves toward shore using only your body, without a surfboard or other flotation device.
The swimmer catches a breaking wave and glides on its face, typically with arms extended forward and body held rigid.
It requires good timing and strong swimming ability.
We spent the afternoon body surfing at the beach.
The term also works as a noun for the activity itself.
