bison herd
Roaming buffalo group
A bison herd is a group of bison moving or grazing together.
Historically, herds on the North American plains numbered in the millions before near-extinction in the 19th century.
Modern herds are much smaller, often managed on ranches or preserves: The bison herd at Yellowstone is one of the few genetically pure populations remaining.
