biorhythms
Internal biological clocks
Biorhythms are the natural cycles that regulate bodily functions—sleep patterns, hormone levels, metabolism, and energy fluctuations over the course of a day or longer period.
Circadian rhythms, the roughly 24-hour cycles governing sleep and wakefulness, are the most discussed.
The term also refers to a pseudoscientific theory popular in the 1970s claiming that physical, emotional, and intellectual capacities follow fixed cycles from birth, supposedly predictable by calculation: According to my biorhythms, today isn't a good day to make major decisions.
