beta tester
Early software guinea-pig
A beta tester is someone who tries out software, games, or other products before their official release, helping identify bugs and usability problems.
Beta testing follows alpha testing (internal) and precedes the public launch.
The role may be paid or voluntary: I was a beta tester for the new operating system.
Some companies cultivate communities of dedicated beta testers who provide detailed feedback.
