bedposts
Mattress frame supports
Bedposts are the vertical supports at each corner of a bed frame, typically extending above the mattress level.
They provide structural support and often serve decorative purposes, ranging from simple wooden posts to elaborate carved or turned designs.
In older bed frames, bedposts supported canopies or curtains.
The phrase notches on the bedpost refers to keeping count of sexual conquests, as if each one were marked on the wood.
