wood frame
Lumber building bones
A wood frame is a structural skeleton made of lumber, typically used in building construction.
Most houses in North America are wood frame construction, with walls built from vertical studs and horizontal plates.
The term also applies to smaller frames—a wood frame for a painting or photograph, as opposed to metal or plastic.
As an adjective: a wood-frame house, wood-frame construction.
